Many injuries with difficult-to-controlble bleeding in the abdominal, armpit, pelvic and groin area require immediate care by first responders, paramedics, emergency paramedics, emergency doctors, police officers and firefighters in order to stabilize the accident victims. The ability to control difficult-to-control bleeding quickly and easily is crucial for the patient’s survival until final care.
The Abdominal Aortic and Junctional Tourniquet-Stabilized (AAJT-S) from Compression Works is designed to provide a solution for the control of difficult-to-treat bleeding in the area of the aorta and pelvis. The AAJT-S is a multifunctional, external venous congestion band with a wedge-shaped bladder that is pressed into the body to block blood flow through all vessels under the application site.
The AAJT-S from Compression Works is approved by the FDA for use to control difficult bleeding in the abdomen, armpit, groin and pelvic fractures. The AAJT-S device has been successfully used in military combat and in civilian pre-hospital care and is the only junktional tourniquet that has been proven to save lives in bleeding in the upper and lower groin area. The device also allows the stabilization of pelvic fractures and has proven to be equivalent to Zone 3 REBOA.
